1957 Ampex A423 Console

This was supposed to be the first stereo console. It is sorta… The RTR was Stereo but they could claim they did the first Stereo console followed by Fisher. This guy has plagued me for years. I rebuilt the alleged preamp and the amplifiers. It was plagued with noise. My friend Chris Hornbeck jeered me into getting back into this one as it was Stacey’s. I gutted the console and we started trouble shooting. This thing is weirder than mittens on snakes. You must route signal through the RTR whether it is on or off. Then the preamp is a weird mono dual mono thing.. I hate it… Next step is to get the tuner working on FM. This is a Fisher FM80 with AM added for Ampex. The RTR will also be a tough rebuilt replacing the belts will be a PITA but would love to get it going. For Stacey we will be adding bluetooth.. Thanks for the help Chris…
