These craftsman are among my favorite and most respected. They go the extra mile to learn the minutia of Hi-Fi history. Here is a collection of their sites and blogs.
VinylSavor - Thomas Mayer
I haven’t metThomas Mayer in person yet but his work is really interesting. His design aesthetic is uniquely his own and is inspiring. I follow his blog posts especially for his tube insights.
Experience Music - Jeffrey Jackson
Jeffrey was one of the first industry professionals I was lucky enough to meet. His creations are a perect combo of the best of vintage and the best of modern. His encouragement is what took me downt he DIY HiFi road.
Intact Audio - Dave Slagle
Dave Slagle was the second industry pro I met throught the old blog. If you need any kind of transformer wired he is your guy. I’ve heard several triode amplifiers with his iron and they are superb. I am a huge fan of the autoformer volume controls and other devices on his site that make DIY audio a dream.
Silbatone Acoustics
You have to respect a company that sends ancient Western Electric audio gear around the world on their own dime just so poeple understand where they are coming from.
13 Audio
These guys actually build modern Western Electric horns but as acurate as the originals. This takes immense dedication to history.
Bjørn Kolbrek and Thomas Dunker
These guys literally wrote the book on horns. They spent many years dedicated to the singular task. This is a must have for any horn junkie. That includes me. Their website will tell your where the book is available but currently available from PartsExpress.
A few of my favorite blogs.
Lab JC.
I have to make sure I’m not drinking anything hot when reading JC’s site as his humor is right up my alley. I try to understand his musings but often over my head but still I try.
doityourselfaudio
I follow lots of DIY tube amp blogs as they help me get ideas for building layout and where others struggle as well. This is a great blog to study.
VinylSavor
Thomas Mayer's blog about vacuum tube audio, to share updates about new amplifiers and preamplifiers and ELROG vacuum tubes.
Hi-Fi Heroin
New school ideas meet old school junk. The blog of Jeffrey Jackson and Dave Slagle. Yeah they get to double dip because they can lol..
Diary of an audio-loving father
