Garrard 301 Plinth Building Part 3

I have modified the original idea of a full veneer or full British racing green plinth. The new plan is BRG top with walnut veneer for the sides.
The inspiration is the 60's Jaguar E Type which is as iconic of Britain to the car world as the Garrard 301 is iconic of Britain to the audio world.

This is the third coat of paint the final two layers will be sprayed. I think I did 6 coats with sanding in between.

This is the final coat awaiting sanding and painting.
I like the walnut natural as I did try dark stains but I like the transition between dark and light.

Here are the thin veneer sheets I will be choosing between.
My friend Kenny talked me into veneering. The sheets are wavy so they will have to be soaked in veneer tamer softener and pressed for a few days. Then we will coat the backs with heat lock and also the sides of the plinth. Fortunately another friend Tim B is going to help apply the veneer. Once we get the veneer on Tim B is going to help trim the veneer and spray a couple layers of clear coat. I'm excited the way this is moving along. It will be nice to get one more project completed.
