Another Austin City Music Trip
I had a quick two day trip to Austin bought some great music and had some of the best food ever.
First trip was to Uchiko probably my favorite restaurant. It is Japanese farmhouse texan fusion.... Hell yeah. Had some Sake made from snow melt that melted my brain.
This is as normal as it gets at Uchiko a simple piece of big eye tuna. I had already consumed the gyutan or beef tounge and sea urchin.... Oh wow.
This was Jar Jar Duck... THey put smoke in the jar to add a smokey flavor to delicately fried duck. When they open the jar you get small billow of smoke... Brilliant idea. Incredible. If you visit Austin Uchiko is a must
My last hour in the city led me to La Perla oyster and seafood house for lunch. This is my second fave restaurant ever and if you love seafood gotta try it. They fly in Japanese oysters that are grown in Washington state. I had already had grilled flounder grilled octopus lobster mac n cheese lol and then the guy at the bar says that I have to try the oysters. When something is suggested in a nice restaurant you just try it and he was right the Japanese oysters are out of this world..
Sorry for the rant about the food but music and food are my favorite things. If I didn't have this blog I'd have a food blog but there are so many of them already. Anyway no trip to Austin is complete without a quick trip to End Of An Ear. This is my favorite music store. Lots of new repressed vinyl...
Finally a Stockhausen record I could afford a reissue of kontakte. I got some magic muffins and some strong coffee it is going to be a good weekend.
This record screamed at me.... How could I not by psychedlic funk from India.
Yes another awesome Moondog record.
This seemed interesting so I bought it. I was short on time so I shopped by album cover.
I don't buy much rock music but I like TRex and had to get this one.
I bought this for the cover and have already listened to a few tracks. It is absolutely amazing. Os Mutantes record was released in 1968 and may be my new favorite record... Very inventive brazillian psychedelic music.
My other copy of this record had some noise on one side so I picked up another copy. I hope this one doesn't have it but it could be in the master because Moondog did lots of field recordings on the streets of NYC.
